Born in Bristol in 1970, grew up in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire (with a formative four years in California), at 16 nearly joined the Army but joined a band instead, cast aside musical ambitions to seek fortune as a journalist, started DWPub in 1997, gained helicopter private pilot's licence in 2006.
